Aw shucks you missed it! Next one first saturday of the month!

What is an imagination break ?

It's a live, guided group journey — part meditation, part creative experience. Think of it like the narration/storytelling of D&D meets depth psychology symbolism.

For 30–40 minutes, I take you through a narrated, vivid imaginary world. Your only job is to follow along and imagine everything as fully as you can — the sights, sounds, textures, and atmosphere.

Along the way you'll hit some special opportunities for your imagination to "first thought best thought". Your imagination is prompted to produce something spontaneously, as if "it was in the drivers seat". What surfaces is instinctive, often symbolic, and deeply personal- often leading people to create beautiful art or have insightful fodder for journaling and self discovery afterwards.

This is not a visualization podcast you put on while folding laundry. It's a live, facilitated imaginal experience — and what happens in the room (the experiences that people's minds generate from the same journey) is the most beautiful part.

How it works

5-10 mins

We start with a brief embodied meditation to get in to your 5 senses.

30-40 mins

We go on a guided imaginal journey as a group. We usually have our cameras off for this part so you can really relax. Each imagination break is different (and yes, some of it is improvisational!).

15-20 mins

You take out your art supplies and we make art, journal, or write poetry to integrate all that came up for you in the journey.

15-30 mins

We turn back on our cameras and share as a group what our experiences were like. This is often the most rewarding part of the hour and a half is learning what other people found on their journey and the wide variety of experiences that can occur. (Many people stay longer because the conversation can get really alive here!!)

What does the work do?

  • Strengthens imaginal capacity

  • Connects you to deeper, more instinctive creative impulses

  • Gives you an arena to practice getting out of your head and trusting the first thought

  • Provides raw material for writing, art, or any creative work

  • Aids in connecting to deeper parts of self
